Yesterday my wife and I took our first trip to the Ohioana Book Festival.  It wasn’t something I’d ever heard of until earlier this week.   The event was held at the State Library of Ohio.  I didn’t even know there were State Libraries.  It seems to be an archival area for works from authors born in Ohio, or who’ve lived in Ohio for a certain period of time.  They had many writers from a wide variety of genres.  One of the sponors of this event was Barnes & Noble.  From the 7th to the 13th of May, 10-20% of proceeds from Barnes & Noble went to help support the State Library. 

We weren’t quite familiar with the process, and weren’t quite sure what to expect.  We only were able to meet two of the authors there.  One was Terry W. Ervin II.  We purchased his novel  Flank Hawk.  I plan to post a review on this book later.  The other was a Graphic Novel prequel to Terminator: Salvation by Dara Naraghi .  We also spoke to a nice group of women representing Sisters in Crime an organization for women (and men apparently) writers in the Columbus area.

Having attended this event, I hope going forward, to contact some of the local authors, and do local features on their clubs, authors, books, etc. If you would like to have your work featured, and are from/live in Ohio, contact me, and we’ll work something out. We definitely plan on attending the event again next year.
