Alan Merkovitz has the job that some guys dream of. He runs and has ran some of the most successful Gentlemen’s Clubs in the country. But as this book shows, it’s not always been a good experience. He’s been shot twice. He had an ex girlfriend drive her car into his front door. He’s had his business partner put a contract out on his life. You definitely can’t say he’s had a boring life.

This memoir details his life from his high school days, to where things currently stand in his life. Some of the areas that I found most interesting:

  • The story of how his father survive Nazi Germany, then used his experiences to talk down a gang of bikers.
  • The time his business partner arranged a contract on him
  • How a competitor wanted to shut down his business, because it was filthy, while continuing their own.
  • Mr. Markovitz also included some comment sections from others involved in his business.  I found some of these to be interesting.  They seemed to provide some details of things that he had no firsthand knowledge of, or put things in a different perspective.

For anyone interested in this type of business, I’d recommend this book.  There is useful information that could be applied to other businesses as well.  Due to language and adult content, I would recommend this only for those readers 18 and over.  While I wasn’t 100% certain what to expect from this book, I ended up finding it an entertaining story. Mr. Markovitz didn’t end up seeming like the person I’d imagined when I had thought of a strip club owner.
