Review
This was my first time reading a James Patterson novel. From the first few pages of the Prologue though, I was hooked. The story was divided between Alex tracking down a serial killer and dealing with the serious illness of his grandmother. I liked the darkness of the novel. I enjoyed how Mr. Patterson presented not only Alex’s perspective but also the perspective of some of the others involved. For a 400 Page novel, I expected to take a little longer to read this. However, I began it on a Saturday night, and finished it the next night. I couldn’t put it down until I found out what was going on. I can’t compare it to other Cross novels, or even into other mystery/thrillers since it’s my only time reading that genre outside of The Godfather and Dan Brown’s novels.
I found it very enjoyable. It was fast paced. There was very strong language, and very strong adult situations. For this, I’d only recommend it for older teens or adults. I definitely look forward to future Alex Cross Novels. I’m thinking I might start at the beginning with Along came a spider.
You can discuss it here or discuss below. What were your favorite Alex Cross books? What other thrillers have you really liked and would recommend? What authors?

Great review. Sounds like a book that is hard to put down once you start reading.

This book is constantly checked out of the library. I have it reserved though. I can’t wait to read it. I have read every single Alex Cross novel. Some I’ve read twice. If it doesn’t come in soon I’m gonna just give up and go buy it….

I meant to also say that if you enjoyed this novel, you should really check out Jonathon Kellermans “Alex Deleware” novels. They are even better then Alex Cross. I’ve read them all. You just can’t put them down once you start reading them.

Rick you really need to go back and read all of the Alex Cross novels. They are all good and the series is really easy to get hooked on. I also read this in a day. Jonathon Kellerman’s “Alex Deleware” series is also good. My all time favorite though is Patricia Cornwell. Her character is “Scarpetta”.

Lee Ann,
I’ll have to check them out. There’s actually a challenge going on (see sidebar) throught 2010 to read 12 thrillers/suspense novels in a year. I signed up. First challenge I’ve done, but 12 books in a year seemed easy enough.

Okay. I finally finished I, Alex Cross. I didn’t even take me 24 hours. I am a huge fan of James Patterson, and have read and love all of his Alex Cross series, and this one didn’t disappoint. It’s impossible to put down. It’s a page turner. You just have to keep reading to find out what’s going to happen next. Right up until the very last page!
If you haven’t read any of the Alex Cross series, then I highly suggest it. If you have never read James Patterson, What are you waiting for!?
