Environmentalism. Arson. Murder. That’s what you have to look forward to in Karen Rose’s Silent Scream. It begins with a condo fire. A young girl is trapped and killed. The four people who committed it think they’ve gotten away with it. They’re wrong. Someone has seen them, and is blackmailing them. Detective Olivia Sutherland is in charge of the investigation. A former love interest of her’s, David Hunter, is the fireman on the job. Olivia is also terrified by all the memories of her last case. David is haunted by his own memories. Will they get together? Will Olivia find the blackmailer, and the four arsonist’s?

I thought this book was good. I was expecting a plain thriller at the beginning, and discovered about halfway through that it’s listed as a Romantic/Suspense novel. That’s usually outside of my reading areas. I’m not familiar with what is good romance novels, or bad romance novels. I’ll just review based on the thriller aspect of the story. This is the part that really kept me reading. The author did a good job of continually injecting plot twists into it. The outcome I didn’t expect. I’m not sure my male readers would enjoy this so much, but I do think my female readers would like it.

For age considerations, this probably isn’t appropriate for young readers. There’s some strong language, some sexual situations, and violent acts. The author however doesn’t get overly gory with the violence, which I found appealing. Pick it up when it’s available, I think you might enjoy it.
